Far Eastern University (FEU) continues to expand its international partnerships as representatives from its International Relations Office participated in the Friends of Saskatchewan Networking Reception last Feb. 24 held at the Makati Diamond Residences.
Organized through the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines and the Government of Saskatchewan, the event brought together Philippine and Saskatchewan stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, research, workforce development, and technology commercialization.
Representing FEU were International Relations Office (IRO) Director Agnes Silva and IRO Coordinator Souljah Harris-Faller, whose participation highlighted the university’s commitment to strengthening academic and institutional partnerships.
The reception was attended by key diplomatic and government figures, including David Hartman, Ambassador of Canada to the Philippines, and Ken Cheveldayoff—member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Saskatoon Willowgrove—who hosted the event. The gathering served as a platform for dialogue and collaboration between education leaders, policymakers, and institutional representatives.
During the program, leading academic institutions from Saskatchewan presented their strengths and potential areas for partnership. The University of Regina highlighted its expertise in energy, climate resilience, public policy, and applied innovation, while the University of Saskatchewan showcased its leadership in agriculture, food security, water, and health sciences, supported by strong global research networks. Meanwhile, Saskatchewan Polytechnic emphasized its role in delivering industry-driven applied education and workforce development solutions.
“Events like this allow us to better understand global education trends and identify areas where we can collaborate effectively,” said Harris-Faller. “It’s about creating connections that translate into real opportunities for students and faculty.”
Through engagements such as this, FEU continues to build meaningful connections with international partners, opening pathways for collaborative programs, research initiatives, and student opportunities that contribute to a more globally engaged academic community.
