Faculty members and students from the FEU Institute of Education (IE) joined thousands of advocates, families, educators, and allies in promoting an “Autism-OK Philippines” — a vision of a society grounded in acceptance, accessibility, equity, and compassion for individuals on the autism spectrum.

“Joining initiatives like Angels Walk for Autism reminds future teachers that inclusion goes beyond academic accommodation. It is about creating safe, respectful, and supportive learning environments where every learner feels valued,” said Neliza De Lara. “[Activities] such as the walk help educators develop greater empathy, patience, and awareness in handling diverse learners inside the classroom.”

De Lara emphasized the importance of exposing future educators to initiatives that deepen their understanding of learners with additional needs.

Also joining Angels Walk for Autism last April 26 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena were IE Department chair Daniel Saroca Jr. and faculty members Angelica Alano, Anthony Cawaling, and Cheryl Matala. Their participation highlighted IE’s commitment to inclusive education and meaningful community engagement.

More than a symbolic gathering, the event served as a collective call for stronger inclusion and greater understanding of neurodiverse individuals. Participants carried messages of hope and advocacy while promoting equal opportunities, dignity, and acceptance for the autism community.

For the Tamaraws who joined Angels Walk for Autism, the experience reinforced the belief that education extends beyond classroom instruction. It is rooted in empathy, accessibility, and the commitment to ensure that every learner has the opportunity to grow and succeed.

As advocates filled the venue with messages of support and inclusion, one message remained clear: inclusion is not simply an initiative, but a shared and continuing responsibility.
