In a two-day workshop that underscored the power of global collaboration in education, the Far Eastern University-Institute of Education and Institute of Arts and Sciences, in partnership with the US Embassy in the Philippines and the Regional English Language Office (RELO), hosted the Pre-Service Teacher Training Workshop—a landmark event designed to equip future educators with tools for excellence, inclusivity, and global competence last April 3 and 4 at the Admissions Building Interactive Lab.

The workshop featured sessions facilitated by Shelynn Riel Osorio and Joseph Voigts, English language specialists whose expertise provided students with practical strategies and global insights into modern English language teaching.

Across the two-day event, students from both institutes explored themes of learner-centered pedagogy, inclusive classroom practices, and reflective teaching—laying a strong foundation for their future roles as educators in a diverse and evolving world.

“A partnership with the US Embassy and the RELO can be a game-changer for pre-service teachers, helping them grow both professionally and globally. Through this collaboration, teachers gain access to valuable training, expert insights, and the latest teaching practices in English language education. [The RELO] workshops and online sessions led by experienced educators help pre-service teachers sharpen their skills and stay updated on new teaching strategies,” said Neliza De Lara, chair of the IE Undergraduate Studies Department.

More than just a training, the event served as a catalyst for innovation and inspiration, reinforcing the university’s commitment to developing globally competitive, reflective, and socially responsible teachers.

“Beyond all this, the opportunity to network with international educators and experts can be invaluable. These connections can lead to future collaborations, mentorship, and even career opportunities, helping teachers continue growing throughout their careers,” said De Lara.
