Far Eastern University (FEU) once again demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence and continuous quality improvement as three of its programs underwent the 496th ASEAN University Network–Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Programme Assessment, including Master of Arts in Education (MAED), Doctor of Education (EdD), and Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT) for reassessment.

The BSMT program is FEU’s first program-level reassessment since its initial AUN-QA engagement five years ago. Meanwhile, the EdD and MAED programs continue FEU’s tradition of expanding quality assurance in graduate education—becoming the second and third FEU graduate programs to undergo AUN-QA assessment, following the successful evaluation of the MA in Psychology in 2023.

“While we are waiting for the results and the detailed feedback, the assessors highlighted some strengths and areas for improvement during the assessment of the three programs. Highlights include a commendable curriculum and specialization offerings for our education graduate programs. For the [BSMT] reassessment, an improvement in the teaching and learning, as well as laboratory and other university facilities were pointed out as strengths. For areas of improvement, data management and concerns on graduation rates were some of the concerns among all three programs,” said Dr. Percival Paras, director of Accreditation and Quality Assurance.

Leading the panel of assessors was Chief Assessor Prof. D. Hanna H. Baktiar-Iskandar from Universitas Indonesia, who also evaluated the EdD program. She was joined by Dr. Veerades Panvisavas of Mahidol University, Thailand, who led the MAED assessment and previously assessed FEU’s BS Hospitality Management program in 2024. Completing the team was Asst. Prof. Dr. Pakorn Watanachaturaporn of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, Thailand, who headed the reassessment of the BSMT program.

As FEU continues to align its programs with international quality assurance standards, the AUN-QA assessment from Sept. 23 to 25 affirms the its commitment to nurturing graduates who embody competence, integrity, and service. More than a compliance exercise, the process reflects the university’s deep-rooted belief that quality education is a shared responsibility, one that thrives through collaboration, reflection, and a collective vision for a brighter, globally competitive future.
