Ericson Batan, an Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing faculty member, placed first among other paper presenters in the International University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) Nursing and Healthcare Conference.
Batan’s presentation on “Family Engagement Practices of Nurses in the Philippines ICUs: A Cros-sectional Study” bested five others from Malaysia, Sabah, and Timor-Leste.
The UMMC conference last Oct. 3 and 4 brought together over 300 healthcare professionals, educators, and innovators from around the world to discuss and explore pressing issues within the healthcare industry.
With the theme "Critical Care Beyond Boundaries: Sustainability, Innovation, and Collaboration," the conference highlighted the importance of sustainable healthcare systems, the role of innovation and technology, and the critical need for collaboration in overcoming the challenges facing global health.
