Representatives from the Far Eastern University, Atty. Rosalie J. de la Cruz-Cada and Engr. Nida B. Bulanhagui, completed the three-day Basic Incident Command System Training Course (BICS) from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 by the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office with the technical assistance of the Office of Civil Defense-National Capital Region.
Passing the BICS is a prerequisite to the Incident Command System Executive Course (ICSEC), which is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the preparedness and leadership capabilities in Manila.
Meanwhile, Engr. Edward Kilakiga, VP for Facilities and Technical Services, attended the one-day ICSEC training last Oct. 3.
The command system is a standardized on-scene management designed to enable an integrated organizational structure that matches the complexity and demands of single or multiple incidents, without being constrained by jurisdictional boundaries. The training is vital in enhancing coordination, communication, and overall effectiveness among members of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and emergency responders during incidents.
