The FEU Academy conducted its Microsoft Excel Associate Level Training and Certification Program, a three-day hybrid learning initiative last Oct. 18 and 26, and Nov. 15. The program featured expert-led sessions facilitated by EdTech Director Catherine Catamora, Christian Lemuel Afundar, and Richmond Riyadhen Lim, combining online training via Zoom with onsite certification at FEU Manila, Admissions Building Room 408.

The training aimed to enhance workplace readiness by strengthening participants’ digital competencies, particularly in Microsoft Excel, one of the most in-demand skills across industries. The program attracted a diverse group of learners, including FEU personnel and 21 external participants from various organizations, demonstrating the growing demand for data management and productivity tools in today’s workforce.

Participants progressed through a structured curriculum aligned with the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel Associate Certification, covering essential competencies such as managing worksheets and workbooks, organizing data cells and ranges, handling tables, performing operations using formulas and functions, and creating effective charts.

The hybrid structure allowed maximum flexibility: Days 1 and 2 focused on online instruction and guided practice, while Day 3 offered participants the option to attend onsite or virtually to complete reviews and take the certification exam. To prepare for assessment, learners used GMetrix, a simulation software that mirrors the actual Certiport testing environment. This hands-on component boosted participants’ readiness and confidence as they familiarized themselves with real exam conditions.

The participants said the training sharpened their ability to manage datasets, create professional reports, and utilize automation tools that streamline everyday tasks. Beyond the technical content, participants emphasized that the program made Excel easier to use through clear explanations, real-time demonstrations, and opportunities for hands-on application.

By integrating certification preparation with practical workplace scenarios, the Excel Training and Certification Program reinforces FEU’s commitment to developing digitally competent and industry-ready graduates and professionals. The initiative reflects the university’s continuous efforts to provide accessible upskilling opportunities that help learners adapt to evolving technological demands in the modern workplace.
