Far Eastern University interns of the Medical Technology program officially started their clinical journey as they donned their white coats and pins. This symbolic tradition serves as a pledge and reminder to the interns’ responsibility in upholding the integrity, compassion, and the excellence in their clinical practice.
“It was more than a fabric— it carried meaning, responsibility, and pride,” said Yesuah Dane Doniego, an intern and a senior said, also acknowledging the accuracy and ethical practice in their profession. “Now, after countless laboratory reports, duty hours, sleepless exam nights, and tearful yet determined mornings, I look at myself in this white coat and realize— everything was worth it. This ceremony recognizes the strength we showed when times were difficult and celebrates the future professionals we are becoming. It reflects who we are: resilient, focused, and fully committed to the work ahead.”
The ceremony also recognizes the students’ hardships, especially for those who are active in organizational duties.
“I am extremely happy because this officially marks the beginning of my internship journey and my final year in the medical technology program, where I will finally be able to apply what I have learned in real clinical practice. I am certain that all my co-interns have been looking forward to this moment as well. We are truly grateful that this event has finally pushed through, as it is not just a ceremony but also a source of motivation for all of us as we take this important step in our journey,” said John Rich, president of the his institute’s student council.
But more than just a tradition, the white coat ceremony emphasizes the interns’ fulfillment of deeper purpose and dignity.
“In every test we process, there is a life that depends on our work. This reminds us of our vital role in helping others by ensuring accurate and precise laboratory results,” Rich said.
