Far Eastern University (FEU) received the Natatanging Tagapagbayad ng Buwis para sa Negosyo (Korporasyon) award during the Gawad Manileño 2026.

The ceremony last June 18 at the Metropolitan Theater was part of the city’s 455th founding anniversary celebration, which recognized individuals and organizations that help strengthen Manila and support its development.

In his remarks, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said Gawad Manileño is more than an awards program. He described it as a tradition that recognizes individuals and organizations whose dedication and service help shape the city.

“A great city is not built by the government alone; it is built by the citizens who choose to care,” he said.

Founded in 1928, FEU has been a longstanding part of Manila’s educational landscape. Located on Nicanor Reyes Street, formerly Morayta, in the heart of Manila’s University Belt, the university has grown alongside the city for nearly a century. In addition to providing quality education, FEU contributes to Manila as an employer, cultural institution, and community partner.

It was the only university represented among the corporate awardees recognized during the ceremony. The recognition comes as FEU continues its longstanding presence in Manila, where it has contributed to the city’s educational, cultural, and civic life since 1928.

Dr. Rowena Capulong Reyes, FEU’s Vice President for Corporate Affairs, accepted the award on behalf of the university.

“[Our] history has always been closely linked with the history of Manila,” Reyes said. “For almost 100 years, FEU has grown alongside the city and its people. We are honored by this distinction and remain committed to contributing to Manila through education, culture, community engagement, and nation-building.”

Chief Finance Officer Rosanna Salcedo said the award reflects FEU’s commitment to accountability and responsible stewardship.

“This recognition reflects FEU's commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and good governance. It underscores the university's strong financial stewardship, integrity, and accountability, while demonstrating that FEU not only educates future leaders but also actively contributes to the sustainable growth and progress of the community it serves.” Salcedo said.

As FEU approaches its centennial, it remains rooted in the city that has been its home since 1928.
