Far Eastern University (FEU) celebrates the academic achievement of Hardie Gieben Cruz, director of the Guidance and Counseling (G&C) Office, who recently earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Guidance and Counseling post-graduate degree from Philippine Normal University.

The path to his doctorate was never an academic pursuit. It led him down to a different kind of healing, one that emphasizes emotional well-being and personal growth.

"When I was younger, I wanted to be a doctor who heals the body," he said. "As life unfolded, I realized my true mission was to heal emotional wounds, nurture growth, and guide people toward their fullest potential."

His path to this achievement was nothing short of easy. Despite times of adversity, Dr. Cruz never questioned his vocation. He credits his strength to the unwavering support of his family, partner, colleagues, and friends, who reminded him that he was capable of reaching his goal. He dedicated this milestone to his late mother's dream of calling him "doctor." Most of all, he credits his success to his faith.

As FEU’s G&C Director, Dr. Cruz has played a prominent role in leading students through their personal and academic journeys. His story demonstrates the value of unwavering commitment for the entire Tamaraw community, showing that a long-held dream is a reward that makes the wait worthwhile.

"Here’s to becoming who we are truly meant to be," he said.
