Far Eastern University (FEU) has solidified its position as a leading sustainable campus in Metro Manila after winning top-tier honors at the Gawad Kalikasan last June 25 at the University of Makati Auditorium.

Its two major awards in the highly competitive Universities and Colleges Edition were:

Second Place – Best in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management – recognizing FEU’s overall institutional success in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions through modern, resource-efficient campus operations.

Special Award for Best in GHG Policies – a distinct Certificate of Recognition honoring FEU for setting a benchmark with formal, robust institutional policy frameworks that support long-term climate action.

“At FEU, our vision is for sustainability to become a culture—not merely a set of rules to follow.  We strive to embed environmental responsibility into the way we plan, operate, educate and carry out our daily work. These recognitions affirm that lasting impact is achieved when sustainability becomes a shared value embraced by our entire community,” said Rosanna E. Salcedo, FEU Chief Finance Officer.

Organized by the City Government of Makati through its Department of Environmental Services, the annual search recognizes institutions demonstrating outstanding dedication to environmental conservation, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction.

The awards were certified by Makati City Mayor Maria Lourdes Nancy S. Binay and presented by Makati City Environmental Committee Chairperson Councilor Maribel F. Vitales during the environmental summit celebrating Philippine Environment Month.

As FEU continues to strengthen its sustainability initiatives, these recognitions underscore the collective efforts of its administrators, faculty, staff, and students in advancing environmental stewardship and building a more sustainable future.
