Far Eastern University (FEU) students taking National Service Training Program 2 (NSTP 2) have been cleared to engage in community outreach after their vaccination against Tetanus Diphtheria (TD).In compliance with the Commission on Higher Education Memorandum Order No. 63, series of 2017, which mandates medical clearance for all outdoor student activities, FEU ensured that the Tamaraws were vaccinated.

The NSTP 2 emphasizes student involvement in community engagement, and its impact has been further strengthened by the continued efforts of the National Service Reserve Corps core group. As these students immerse themselves in various service initiatives, the TD vaccine serves as a protective measure against health risks to which they may be exposed. Moreover, the vaccine will be beneficial for students in their higher years, as it is also a requirement for on-the-job training.

Jerome Requidan, NSTP coordinator, said the vaccination project was a collaborative effort with the Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing and the University Health Services. He further noted that for the program’s improvement, vaccinations can be administered earlier in the next academic year to ensure wider student participation.

With this proactive approach, students can confidently engage in community service activities while safeguarding their health, further reinforcing FEU’s commitment to holistic student welfare and community development.
