A total of 120 Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management students and their six faculty chaperones embarked on a two-day educational exposure tour in Bataan last Oct 29 and 30 to bridge academic learning with real-world applications in the tourism and hospitality industry.

The tour sought to enhance students’ knowledge and appreciation of Bataan’s historical, cultural, and natural attractions while providing them with practical exposure to tourism operations and destination management. It also emphasized sustainable and responsible tourism practices, encouraging students to interact with local communities and industry professionals.

During the tour, they visited several notable sites and facilities including MacroAsia, Bataan Tourism Office, World War II Museum, San Guillermo Church, Holiday Land, and Aurora Subic Hotel. These destinations offered diverse insights—from heritage preservation and local governance to hospitality management and environmental sustainability.

“The tour exceeded my expectations and was well-organized by the tour coordinator and facilitators. It was a great experience for both learning and enjoyment,” said Unisse Khloie Torrano, a tourism student.

Another student, Kent Ashley Medina, said the experience was both “educational and enjoyable,” noting that it helped reinforce classroom lessons about tourism management and destination promotion.

The activity also promoted interpersonal skills, teamwork, and leadership—core competencies essential to future professionals in the field. As one participant reflected, the tour “wasn’t just about sightseeing, it was about understanding how tourism connects people, history, and progress.”
