Student affairs professionals from around the world gathered for the 19th APSSA International Conference, hosted by the National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University, and Nanyang Technological University. With the theme "Transiting into and Navigating through University towards Student Success," the conference served as a platform for in-depth discussions on evolving student needs, innovative educational practices, and international collaboration.

Structured around three key pillars—transit, transform,  and transcend—the event provided valuable insights into student development and success. These themes addressed the crucial transition into university life, the transformation of learning environments, and the transcendence of traditional educational models to meet the ever-changing needs of students worldwide.

Far Eastern University (FEU) was represented by its Guidance and Counseling Office director and Institute of Education faculty, Hardie Gieben Cruz, who presented a paper on "Exploring Lenses of Empathy in a Higher Education Institution: A Phenomenological Investigation." His research delved into the critical role of empathy in higher education, shedding light on how cultivating an empathetic environment enhances student engagement, mental well-being, and overall academic success.

This opportunity at an international level underscores FEU’s commitment to fostering student-centered learning and holistic development. The insights gained from the conference, especially from Cruz’s study, can be instrumental in enhancing the university’s approach to student affairs. By integrating empathy-driven initiatives and innovative educational strategies, FEU can further strengthen its support systems, ensuring that students transition smoothly into university life and thrive in their academic journey.

The knowledge shared at the 19th APSSA International Conference also opens opportunities for FEU to refine its policies and programs, reinforcing its role as a leading institution that prioritizes student success. The conference's emphasis on adaptability and international collaboration aligns with FEU’s vision of providing world-class education while maintaining a strong sense of community and support.
