Far Eastern University (FEU) students are encouraged to cultivate a mindset of lifelong learning.

“Keep on continuously learning, even if it’s part [of] or aligned to your career or not; you have to keep on learning,” said Bienjamin Leofando, head of Megaworld Corporation’s Learning and Development. “It’s inevitable that you’re going to start small before you achieve a whole lot of your goals.”

Leofando also stressed the importance of resilience and leadership in building a strong professional foundation. He also shared his insights on how students can discover sources of inspiration, define personal goals, and identify motivational factors that can help them achieve their career goals.

“Being a leader doesn’t mean giving orders to your coworkers. It’s immersing yourself with their responsibilities,” he said.

The latest Career and Placement Office (CAPO) PEP Talk Series was held at the University Conference Center, with the title “Leadership and Corporate Culture at Megaworld: Building a Strong Foundation for Your Career.”

It was geared toward helping students reflect on their ambitions and passions—essential insights in deciding their careers—even while they are at FEU.

“Students are able to build a foundation for their careers by knowing what their goals and passions are at this early stage in life,” said CAPO coordinator Faith Jovellanos.

According to Jovellanos, the discussion also reinforced the importance of selflessness and problem-solving in the workplace.

“The importance of being selfless is connected to the idea of leadership. And identifying problems and being able to provide solutions is an important aspect of professionalism nowadays,” she said.

“[We at CAPO are] driven to help students be more aware of their potential as they eventually graduate and pursue their own careers,” said Jovellanos.
