Far Eastern University (FEU), through its Academic Quality Assurance office chose Dr. Harold Bueno, Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management dean to be one of the participant-trainees in the prestigious Tier 2 Program Assessor Training conducted by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) last March 20 to 23 at the De La Salle University.
The Tier 2 Program Assessor Training is a rigorous, three-day intensive workshop designed to equip aspiring assessors with the knowledge and skills to evaluate academic programs in higher education institutions across Southeast Asia. It is considered a vital step toward becoming an official AUN-QA assessor.
“This training has deepened my understanding of how academic programs are assessed using AUN-QA tools and principles,” said Bueno. “It was hands-on, reflective, and highly collaborative. I now have a greater appreciation for quality assurance frameworks that transcend local contexts and foster regional educational excellence.”
As a future assessor, Bueno expressed his desire to contribute to the broader academic community.
“Given the opportunity to serve as an assessor in the future, I see this as a valuable chance to contribute to the quality of higher education in the region,” he said. “FEU’s commitment to sending managers and faculty members to participate in assessments across Southeast Asia demonstrates its dedication to enhancing the quality of higher education at both the institutional and regional levels.”

He also emphasized the long-term benefits of the training for FEU’s internal development.
“What we learn from these regional assessments can be brought back to our university. It becomes a form of informal benchmarking, allowing us to refine and enhance our internal processes.”
