Far Eastern University (FEU) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing instructional excellence through its Course Refresher on Assessing and Facilitating Teaching-Learning, at the FEUture Center as part of the In-Service Training for Faculty last Oct. 24.
The one-day event gathered educators from various institutes in a dynamic professional development session designed to strengthen their pedagogical skills and promote learner-centered teaching practices.
The morning session focused on the intentional use of the Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition or SAMR model in blended learning environments. Facilitators guided faculty through the effective integration of technology in instruction, highlighting practical applications such as Canvas Studio, the new quiz functions, and stimulus categorization tools. Participants explored how these digital platforms could transform learning experiences from simple enhancement to true innovation. The session concluded with a lively exchange over a shared lunch, fostering collegiality and reflection.
In the afternoon session, the emphasis shifted toward practical, classroom-based interventions. Faculty members collaborated in designing lesson plans that aligned learning outcomes, activities, and assessments with provided materials. The interactive design activity encouraged creative problem-solving and showcased FEU’s continued pursuit of intentional, student-centered teaching.
The course refresher underscored FEU’s ongoing mission to empower educators as reflective practitioners capable of crafting transformative learning experiences, ensuring that the university remains at the forefront of quality higher education in the country.
