Far Eastern University managers and supervisors are now prepared to manage life-threatening emergencies.

Organized collaboratively by the university’s Human Resource Department (HRD), through the Community Relations, and the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Manila DRRMO), the Emergency First Aid Training with Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was held last Sept. 15 and 16, with the university’s managers and supervisors as participants.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from the Manila DRRMO facilitated the training.  They taught the participants the essential emergency medical skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), treatment of wounds, stabilization of bone fractures, and efficient medical emergency respond methods. The participants acquired hands-on experience through participative and engaging discussions with the EMTs and practical exercises aimed at preparing them for actual emergencies.

The training also included hands-on evaluation to measure the participants’ understanding of the techniques in CPR and the use of AED. Participants were encouraged to actively engage in the discussion and practical assessment to ensure that they leave the training well-equipped and prepared.

“We are truly grateful for the opportunity to take part in this life-saving training conducted by the MDRRMO EMTs. Their dedication to sharing valuable knowledge and skills is deeply appreciated,” said Rosalie J. de la Cruz-Cada, FEU Community Relations director.

The collaboration between the university’s HRD, through the Community Relations, and the Manila DRRMO emphasized the importance of community-based training on emergency preparedness.  The partnership strengthens the university’s dedication to fostering responsible and skilled individuals who can be relied upon by their respective communities in case of disaster and other emergencies. It also reinforces the university’s dedication to community resilience and proactive disaster response strategies.
