The Center for Teaching and Learning under Dr. Marc Lancer Santos conducted its first introductory workshop for teacher-scholars, focusing on “Designing for Learning: Outcomes, Activities Alignment, and Student-Centered Practice.”
The activity featured a discussion led by Dr. Santos, who emphasized the vital link between well-crafted learning outcomes, aligned classroom activities, and authentic assessments. Teacher-scholars were encouraged to revisit their teaching approaches and reflect on how intentional design can enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Participants shared their classroom experiences, resulting in a rich exchange of ideas and practical strategies. Through collaborative group work, the scholars designed semi-detailed class proper activities within a module, integrating principles of student-centered learning into real teaching contexts.
According to Dr. Santos, the session’s goal was to deepen the scholars’ understanding of the student-centered learning paradigm, ensuring that instructional design is purposeful and responsive to learners’ needs. The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment among teacher-scholars to design learning experiences that empower students to take an active role in their education.
